from Espacio Libre 2011 (todas las canciones), track released December 16, 2011
Alicante-based heavy metal band Whirlwind Storm was founded in 2001, by a few metalheads (and classmates) particularly interested in sharing their vision of music and enjoy playing together. Initially dubbed Whirlwind, the band began writing his own music very soon, combined with playing some classics that improved their skills. Rarely performed live (only in their debut concert, in Towerplane), that cover songs included pieces of Iron Maiden, Helloween, Running Wild, Judas Priest, Megadeth, Stratovarius and many more. And those are the roots of Whirlwind Storm nowadays, heavy-influenced by the classical heavy/power metal bands and other rock/hard rock monsters.

Whirlwind Storm has taken a slow but steady path, evolving and improving every day in the rehearsal room. Originally formed by five members (and soon a six-piece band), keeps its core intact from the beginning, with only a few changes that have consolidated the project through the years.

Though the few shows offered to date, every one of them is unique and worth to see, and include contests and festivals. Information and setlist to all of them is available in the Live Dates section of this website.

Recording studios aren’t a strange place for them. Released as a demo, the song “The Call to Wrath” was their first foray in the recording room, in 2006. With a very primitive sound, the song captures the essence of the band’s early days, and marks one of the band’s favorite themes, the social commitment. Other ones, like history (and historical characters), the ancient Egypt and war are very present in their deep lyrics.

Produced between 2007 and 2009, “Inside the Dark Void” is Whirlwind Storm’s debut album, and is the result of hard work and perseverance, endlessly pampered and finally free digitally-released in 2009. “Inside the Dark Void” includes a mixture of powerful, dark and melodic songs, most of them common in their shows and well known by the fans, such anthems like “Darkland”, “Black Bird” or the homonymous “Whirlwind Storm”. In 2010, a physical limited edition of the album saw the light of day, which included a full color booklet with lyrics and photos. To celebrate the launch, a very special show in “Sala Stereo” (Alicante) took place in May 2010.

The band is working hard at the moment, rehearsing and sharpening brand new songs that will be played live soon, and that will take part of the next/sophomore album, ready to be immortalized in the near future. So be prepared, and ready to the storm.
